Company Profile:
Established in 1952 till present

Launched on February 21, 1952 and founded by Mr. Edmund Ho and other four well-known figures, Companhia de Auto-Carros de Macau – Fok Lei provided public transportation in Macau. The company was then restructured and renamed Transmac – Transportes Urbanos de Macau, S.A.R.L. in 1988. Mr. Liu Hei Wan is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors. With more than 1100 employees and more than 500 vehicles, Transmac not only operates the 32 bus routes and occasional routes of festive event approved by the Macao SAR government, which is its main business, but also provides bus rental services, such as shuttle buses and event transportation for government agencies, public and private enterprises, schools, associations and the public.

All this time, our company has always been determined to innovate, including passengers bus fares payment methods from the traditional manual fare collection to automatic coin input followed by the development of IC stored value cards, and now uses convenient card validators and scan code payment methods; from only a few air-conditioned buses to all buses with air-conditioning; from manual transmission to automatic transmission; introduced low-floor platform buses, three-door buses and 18 meter articulated ones to enhance passenger safety, space and ride experience; constantly upgrading and introducing the latest EU environmentally friendly buses; took the lead in introducing extended-range electric buses into operation to cooperate with the government in promoting the development of green transportation; compartments are equipped with audio and display station announcement devices, TV information broadcasting, USB charging, wireless WIFI internet access, dynamic display and other convenient electronic equipment.

In terms of passengers, all the staff of Transmac strives to provide the general public with punctual, safe, and quality bus service. In terms of employees, Transmac provides and creates appropriate working environment for its employees; provides qualification and skill training for employees to enhance their confidence in their jobs; provides cultural and recreational activities which benefit the employees and their family members, and set up venues for recreational and sporting activities of employees, in order to alleviate their work pressure; provides all kinds of incentives in recognition of the achievements of employees; sets up dedicated departments for employee care to provide them with more intimate and meticulous care.

To ensure the consistent high-level quality of bus services, Transmac has standardized its day-to-day operations and management. Transmac has adhered to the management philosophy of continuous improvement, and implemented the ISO quality management system since 2004. In 2016, Transmac was awarded the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification, the latest requirements of ISO.

Milestones

2022

Awarded the “Medal of Industrial and Commercial Merit” by the Macau SAR government;

The celebrations of the 70th Anniversary of Transmac included: 160 new energy buses put into service, "Transmac – 70 Years in Macao" stamp issue, new uniform, badges and caps for staff;

Actively cooperated with the government's epidemic prevention and anti-epidemic work, maintained uninterrupted bus services during the " Relative Static Period" and provided additional special route services; Mobilized technical staff, cooperated with the government to operate special routes to the community treatment centre for the diagnosed patients to seek medical treatment.

Route H3 has been converted from minibus to mid-range buses, with low platforms, wide passages and barrier-free facilities, making it more convenient and safer for the elderly, disabled and passengers who need to go to the hospital;

Successfully passed the ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System - Surveillance Audit;

Launching of platforms and activities such as "Bus Captain Smiling Campaign" and "Station Service Rating" to award outstanding bus captains, terminus supervisors and attendants and other front-line employees to improve bus service standards;

Introduced high-precision positioning vehicle equipment to improve accuracy and to reduce errors.

2021

Successfully obtained the “ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System” Certification;

Introduction of extended-range electric three-door buses and minibuses to cooperate with the government in promoting eco-friendly travel; extended-range electric minibuses became the first batch of “AA” license plate buses in Macau, opening a new page for Macau’s bus mileage;

Introduction of equipment such as “LCD Dynamic Display Screen” and “Electric Sliding Door” to improve travelling experience and safety;

The compartment is equipped with video and audio recording devices to protect the safety and legitimate rights and interests of the passengers and bus captains;

Route 17 will be operated from minibuses to mid-size buses, with low-floor platforms, wide passages and barrier-free facilities, making it easier and safer for the elderly, the young, the disabled and passengers who need to go to hospitals;

Launch of platforms and activities such as "Customer Service Mini Program", "Bus Captain Smiling Campaign" and "Station Service Rating" to improve and upgrade bus services standards;

According to the contract signed with the Macau Special Administrative Region regarding the revision of the concession contracts for Macao Road Public Transport for Collective Passengers” - Section I and Section IV, the new bus contract takes effect on January 1, and operational adjustment measures are introduced on a quarterly basis.

2020

Passed the review and obtained the ISO9001: 2015 quality management system certificate.

On September 11, a contract was signed with the Macao SAR government, regarding the revision of the new concession contracts relating to the Macao Road Public Transport for Collective Passengers” - Section I and Section IV, and the concession period is to be expired on December 31, 2026.

In order to facilitate passengers to grasp the route itinerary more easily, a dynamic display screen was introduced to display route information and station announcement reminders along the way.

2019

More than 100 million passengers carrying capacity.

On 29th October, signed a contract with the Macao Special Administrative Region for the public collective service of road collective passenger transportation-the notarized contracts for the first and fourth tender sections, and the contract was extended to 31st December, 2020.

Passed the review and obtained the ISO9001: 2015 quality management system certificate.

Mobileye assisted safe driving system, area speed limit system and driving behavior analyzer system were introduced in order to improve driving safety.

Used "MPay Macau Wallet" to collect fares on the Bus.

2018

Introduce the extended range electric bus. Featuring self power recharging system, all-day non stop services, self charging while the battery is running low. Not require suspending services for appointed location charging. Solving the all day cursing issue while achieving environmental friendly.

Successful accreditation. Obtained ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification.

Awarded with Certificates of Appreciation by DSAL and IAS.

Awarded with Excellence in the Fifth Macau Quality Brand Selection for “Quality transportation Brand”, which hosted by the Exmoo News Paper.

Signed the collective public transport services revised contract for the 1st stage and 4th stage on 31 July and being effective from 1 August 2018 till 31 October 2019.

2017

Passed the review and obtained the ISO9001: 2015 quality management system certificate.

Transmac – Transportes Urbanos de Macau S.A.R.L. hosted the “Rooted in Macau for 65 years – Transmac Anniversary Celebration Dinner” on 6 December 2017. Mr Edmund Ho Hau Wah, the Vice-Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Mr Ho Iat Seng, the President of the Legislative Assembly of the Macau Special Administrative Region; Mr Lionel Leong Vai Tac, the Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau Special Administrative Region; Mr Liu Bin, the Director-General of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government; Mr Liu Chak Wan, the Standing Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference; Mr Chui Sai Cheong, the Vice-President of the Legislative Assembly of the Macau Special Administrative Region; Mr Lam Hin San, the Director of the Transport Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region; and Ms Lei Ioc Heng, the former Chairperson of the General Assembly of Transmac and Mr Liu Hei Wan, the Company’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, in officiating the launching ceremony for the night. Total 150 people amongs other government officials of the Macau Special Administrative Region, public figures, representatives from social organizations, the local commercial and industrial sectors and media organizations, and friends from the public transportation industry were also invited to the event.

To celebrate “Rooted in Macau for 65 years”, series of events and activities were organized includes: Outstanding Bus Captains Competition, 2 days trip to Zhao Qing, Table Tennis Competition, The Fun Bus Trip, Bus graffiti event, Bus memorabilia exhibition with showcase of a classic bus model from the 1990s manufactured by Mercedes Benz.

Introduced 18-meter articulated bus model with 120 passenger loading capacity, focusing on high passenger demand routs and stops to mitigate passenger flow in a timely manner.

Total 159 Buses were either submerged or damaged by Typhoon Hato on 23 August 2017, staff members were devoted to repair almost 100 buses in few days;With the effort and supports being made by DSAT, DSF, SA, Bus supplier and our Staff Members, additional 35 buses were able to delivered in advance, which took only 5 days to complet the operation procedures from the manufacturer in Su Zhou to Macau, managed to put into operation before first day of school on 4 September. This is a successful demonstration of the collaboration between the Government and the community againt nature diaster.

2016

Transmac passed the review and approval process and was awarded the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification.

Introducing the first three-door large bus with barrier-free facilities in Macau, improving load factor and passenger person-kilometres; and the first bus service provider in Macau to introduce buses with built-in USB chargers and Wi-Fi access for passengers’ convenience.

Transmac took the lead in the use of auto fare collection terminal, shortening the boarding time of passengers and improving operating speed.

Won the first place in “Elite Service Award – Best Public Transportation Service and Brand in Macau” in Macau Elite Service Award 2015 organised by Exmoo News.

On January 14, 2016, Transmac and the Macau SAR government signed the Amended Notarized Contract for “Providing Public Passenger Transport Services to the Macao Special Administrative Region - the Section I and the Section IV”, entering into force on January 16, 2016 and expiring on July 31, 2018.

2015

Won the first place in “Elite Service Award – Best Public Transportation Service and Brand” in Macau Elite Service Award 2014 organised by Exmoo News.

Won the honor of the Company of Integrity for 15 years (2001 to 2015) issued by the Consumer Council of Macau SAR Government.

2014

Transmac provided the guided ride system to facilitate the ride of visually impaired persons.

Mobile media displaying systems have been installed in bus compartments to provide passengers with more information during their ride.

Introduced Euro V environment-friendly buses, taking part in protecting the environment.

2013

Introduced Euro IV environment-friendly buses, taking part in protecting the environment.

2012

Transmac passed the review and approval process and was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System Certification.

2011

On August 1, Transmac commenced its implementation of the 7-year Notarized Contract for “Providing Public Passenger Transport Services to the Macao Special Administrative Region- the Section I and the Section IV”, which expires on July 31, 2018.

Providing accessible facilities for the convenience of the disabled.

2010

Transmac became the first qualified company in Macau to be special repairing agent for Cummins Engine Company, pushing its bus repairing technology ahead.

Transmac continued to operate for 9 months and a half under the service contract awarded previously since the Government failed to enable the operation under a new service contract on October 15, 2010 as scheduled by the tender plan.

2009

Participated in the bid for the public tender of Macau’s public transportation services and submitted tender on November 25.

2008

Transmac signed the temporary 2-year “Public Passenger Transport Services Contract” with the Macau SAR Government.

Transmac introduced the 12-meters bus with a large carrying capacity of 90 passengers.

2007

Transmac’s annual number of passengers exceeded 80 million, which marked its peak since the company’s establishment.

2004

Transmac passed the review and approval process and was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System Certification, Transmac became the first bus operating company in Macau to implement ISO quality services.

Introduced Euro III environment-friendly buses, taking part in protecting the environment.

2003

Transmac became the first bus operating company in Macau to adopt electronic bus fare payment for interchange bus services, a new concept that enabled effective use of road resources in Macau.

2001

Transmac obtained recognition by Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center and Macau Institute of Tourism Studies as the most satisfactory service unit in the area of public transportation services among Macau residents.

1999

Transmac obtained recognition by the Consumer Council of Macau SAR Government as the most favored public transportation service unit among Macau residents.

Transmac became the world’s first bus company to operate the 7.7-meter double-door medium-sized bus, a model designed for Macau by Japan’s Mitsubishi Motors Plant.

1998

Transmac took lead to introduce electronic bus fare payment on all bus routes.

Transmac became the first bus company on top of Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau to import and operate the 8-meter low floor medium-sized Benz buses from Germany, which were tailored for the narrow and winding road features of Macau.

The service contract for providing public passenger transport in Macau was automatically renewed for 10 years.

1997

Transmac purchased the super-low floor air-conditioned “MAN” buses from Germany with full air suspension system, resulting in greater comfort and adding convenience for passengers.

1996

Transmac became the first company in Macau that adopted contactless smart card payment system on the buses to collect fares.

1995

Transmac imported British low floor air-conditioned Dennis buses to facilitate passengers’ boarding on buses.

1994

In order to raise public awareness of environmental protection, Transmac became the industry’s pioneer to operate European environmental-friendly buses.

All new purchased buses were equipped with automatic conversion devices to facilitate driving, reduce the working load of bus operators and ensure a safe journey.

1991

The first launch of the “Macau pass”, a monthly pass, was widely welcomed by passengers.

1989

Transmac took lead to introduce self-service payment of bus fares through insertion of coins into collection boxes in replacement of ticket selling on buses by a conductor, which enhanced social productivity.

1988

Transmac heavily invested on the purchase of air-conditioning buses on all bus routes, spurring the development of bus services of Macau and its neighboring regions for high quality services.

Transmac was officially operational and the same year was granted franchise for franchise operating in Macau for 10 years and automatically renewed for 10 years.

1983

Introducing Isuzu air-conditioned buses to run Route 3A between the outer harbour terminal and the inner harbour. These buses provide passengers with air-conditioned services which at that time, were called air-conditioned luxury buses.

1975

Transmac introduced double-decker buses that were officially operational on June 16, linking the Macau Peninsula, Taipa and Coloane, with route numbers 11, 21, and 21A.

1952
