The Transmac Workers Union of Occupational Safety and Health always pays close attention to the public transportation of Macau and the work environment of the frontline staff. On March 20, the President of the Union Mr Ho Chak Meng, alongside 5 representatives, visited the Transport Bureau (DSAT). They were received by the Director of DSAT, Mr Lam Hin San, the functional head of the Transport Management Division Mr Ho Chan Tou and the Transport Management senior technician Chau Chun Hung, Yuen Chau Wa from the Bureau’s Director Office, as well as Ms Mak Ka Wai from the Public Relations Division.
During the meeting, Mr Ho and representatives of the Union proposed solutions regarding the complicated traffic conditions in Macau, for the Bureau to make improvements in road planning and to resolve the insufficient bus stop space, as well as issues concerning the environment and facilities of bus terminals. They also advised the Bureau to employ different promotional channels to better inform passengers in order to bolster passengers’ civil literacy. At the end of the meeting, the Union representatives delivered a letter to the DSAT officials that detailed the concerns raised by the workers. They hope that the Bureau will be more proactive in tackling the issues and making improvements.
The DSAT Director said he understands the concerns raised by the Union and will follow up on the issues. He also hopes bus captains can stay steadfast and continue providing residents with high quality bus services.
