With the development of the local tourism industry, the public buses in Macau carry on average more than 500,000 passengers each day, many of whom are visitors. Therefore, the quality of local bus services can affect the image of the city.
As such, Transmac – Transportes Urbanos de Macau S.A.R.L. participated in the 2015 Macao Awareness Campaign organized by the Macao Government Tourism Office. The two parties jointly organized training sessions relating to bus services, which were coordinated by the Macau Institute of Management.
A total of 20 training sessions took places between 1st to 17th June. More than 400 Transmac bus captains, terminal supervisors and staff members of the operations department participated in the program.
During the training sessions, instructors explained to the participants the duties and regulations, as well as the appropriate attitude that employees of bus service providers should observe. They were also taught how to resolve issues under pressure and the benefits of having a positive attitude. The aim of the training sessions was to allow participants to better understand their jobs and to work in a less stressful manner, thus contributing to higher service quality.
With the teaching from the instructors and the chance to exchange with colleagues, participants said the training sessions were beneficial to their work and helped them to strengthen their confidence. They said that they hoped the Company could organize more training sessions in the future.
This shows that frontline staff members do put a high emphasis on service quality, and wish to enhance their service quality through taking part in training, which is also the goal of the program.
